Problem #1: Die Sommer-Falle bei Indoor-Aktivitäten (und das Speicherstadt-Phänomen)
Ein klassisches Problem, das wir als Betreiber jeden Sommer aufs Neue erleben: Sobald sich die Sonne in Hamburg zeigt, zieht es die Menschen verständlicherweise nach draußen. Niemand möchte an einem herrlichen Sommertag in einem geschlossenen Raum sitzen.
Spannend ist dabei ein historischer Fact aus unserem Alltag: Unsere Indoor Escape Rooms befinden sich in einem echten, alten Speicher. Diese Gebäude wurden damals beim Bau extra so konzipiert, dass die Böden und dicken Mauern von Natur aus rund 5 Grad kälter sind als die Außentemperatur. Warum? Weil hier früher Kaffee, Gewürze und Getreide kühl gelagert werden mussten. Doch obwohl wir heute zusätzlich mit modernen Ventilatoren und Klimageräten nachhelfen, kommen wir gegen eine einfache Tatsache nicht an: Wenn das Wetter perfekt ist, gehört ein Teamevent oder Ausflug einfach unter den freien Himmel.
Unsere Indoor-Erlebnisse laufen ja zum Glück nicht weg. Viele unserer Stammkunden bringen es im Gespräch auf den Punkt und sagen uns: „Christoph, wir spielen im Sommer bei euch einfach immer die Outdoor Escape Games an der frischen Luft und in der dunklen Jahreszeit kommen wir dann wieder rein für die Indoor-Räume.“

Problem #2: Einschläfernde Sightseeing-Touren (und warum ich klassischen Stadtführungen misstraue)
Als ich im Jahr 2010 frisch nach Hamburg gezogen bin, bekam ich natürlich auch Besuch von meinen Eltern aus dem Oldenburger Münsterland. Um gemeinsam die neue Heimat zu erkunden, haben wir das klassische Standardprogramm durchgezogen: diverse Stadtführungen und typische Rundfahrten. Das Ergebnis war leider fast immer dasselbe: gähnende Langeweile, lieblos runtergeleierte Jahreszahlen und absolut uninspirierte Vorträge. Bei einem ehrlichen Schnack während einer Tour erzählte mir ein Guide sogar ganz unverblümt: „Eigentlich bin ich Schriftsteller, das hier mache ich nur nebenbei. Jeden Tag schippern dort unzählige Barkassen voller Touristen an uns vorbei. Wenn ich auf dem Balkon stehe, höre ich zwangsläufig, was die Guides da ins Mikrofon tönen. Entweder ist das Gesagte historisch komplett falsch, sterbenslangweilig oder die inhaltliche Führung wird einfach komplett eingestellt und stattdessen dröhnt stumpfe Ballermann-Musik aus den Bordlautsprechern.

Problem #3: Large groups cannot play at the same time
In theory, it would be possible to play an outdoor escape game with an unlimited number of participants. However, above a certain group size, it becomes quite confusing and less fun.
But there is also a very simple solution to this problem – the group is split into two or thirds etc. and all teams then play against each other and against the clock! For example, companies, JGAs, families and even school classes can play at the same time.
