The perfect escape room team – you need these types of players in your group!

Your success in the game depends directly on your escape room team and how it is put together. In the vast majority of escape rooms, the optimum number of participants is between four and six. However, six quantum physicists will often take longer to solve some puzzles than a motley group with rather unspectacular professions.

As the puzzles are so varied and the solutions are often difficult to find, the right mix of player types is a basic prerequisite for the success of your escape room team.

If you are motivated by sport and want to solve an escape room with your team in as little time as possible, then you should make some basic considerations about the special skills of the individual players before choosing your team.

In this article you will find some tips on which “ideal types” should be on board to successfully complete your next escape room in the shortest possible time.

Solve every puzzle with this escape room team

The professional

The ideal escape room team for solving an adventure would of course be one made up of people who have already played a few escape games themselves and have had many a successful experience. If you are unable to recruit an escape room special forces unit from your immediate environment, then see if your friends fit into one of the following categories:

The leader

He sets the tone and also gives the individual steps a certain structure. The leader ensures that communication is clear and that not everyone is speculating and gesticulating wildly. He decides who deals with which detailed problem and with whom. And he is either a born leader and is accepted a priori by everyone or he is elected team captain before the start of the game.

The observer

He or she stands seemingly impassive in a corner, but keeps a watchful eye on what your team is up to. The observer therefore has something of an “outside view” of the team and intervenes if, for example, someone starts an action that another team member has already aborted without success. This type of player also remembers what has not yet been searched for and what has not yet been attempted and then often takes action themselves with great success.

The analyst

His favorite pastime, for example, is solving the weekly crossword puzzle in the Saturday edition of Die Zeit – preferably in under 30 minutes! So he loves tricky problems and is able to think around several corners and draw precise conclusions. His hobbies probably include astrophysics, curling, ornithology and chess as well as many other fun sports.

The collector

This type of gamer is known among friends for their collection of surprise egg toys and never throws anything away without thinking at least three times about whether it might be useful again in the distant future. Although this characteristic can be found in many people, it is important for you that the guy is a collector. Because you need someone who has their collections perfectly organized and always has the item or reference they need at their fingertips.

The doubter

Is not satisfied with the obvious and questions every object and every clue. He was also of the opinion from the outset that you should have gone straight to the nearest pub. If there is a certain system to the constant doubting, then even surprising and highly welcome discoveries are not accidental finds. Or are they?

Conclusion on your escape room team

Now you have an overview of which escape room team you have the best chance of cracking all the puzzles without help from the operator.

So think carefully about who among your friends or work colleagues matches which of the above profiles as closely as possible, get your Dream Escape Room team together, book your appointment at OPOLUM – and have fun!
